Picture of the Day: Talk to the Hand

Mr. E shared his stocking stuffer non-toxic talking animal tattoos with us today. They were really fun, though the 3s picked the animals with non-conventional sounds.

Picture of the Day: Play Doh

It was a marathon of play doh, this afternoon. I lasted 35 whole minutes before I declared a short intermission for floor vacuuming. (That is an all time personal best.)

Valentine's Day Crafts

A big thank you to Target's dollar aisle. These little metal mailboxes contributed to many happy hours of playtime. (And the destruction of a small forest of trees; the children wrote SO many valentine's notes. Too many.)

Heart shaped sponge painting.

Heart crowns with sparkly stickers!

I saw another cute Vday craft on Pinterest and hoped to recreate it; lots of tiny heart shaped fingerprints in a cute little hand drawn jar. It didn't quite turn out, for a few reasons. Maybe next year!

Reporting vs. Tattling

What a nice sign, to help break down the appropriate times for reporting and identifying when tattling may be occurring. I know it is so important for my 3s (and my 8 year old, for that matter) to know that they are being heard and that their feelings are being acknowledged. Usually I can talk them through it "how did that make you feel? What should you tell so-and-so? What would make you feel better?" but some days I wish they would talk it over with the tattle monster.

Picture of the Day: Friendly Flowers

Forget long walks on the beach- a short walk to Lowe's garden center for flowers in valentine colors helps beautify our planters and usually means a great nap time. That is my kind of win-win. Dirty crafts? A kid's favorite, hands down (in the dirt).

Groundhog Day

I found this idea online: use mostly heart shapes (perfect for early valentine's day), googly eyes and double sided sticky tape. Little ones can assemble their own with provided shapes, older children can try to cut their own. Use flashlights to talk about shadows if you aren't lucky enough to have a beautiful, sunny day.

It is hard to believe, after playing in the warm sunshine for an hour, that there will be 6 more weeks of winter.

Picture of the Day: Little Hoops

I am thankful for the beautiful weather we had today! Some how we skipped Winter and went right to Spring. The children loved the time outside while we waited for a few sleepy heads to finish napping.
